PFL : REGULAR SEASON : ATL

Overview: GHM&D was lucky enough to be asked to help out the team at the ‘Professional Fighters League’ with creating some animations to be played in the arena on fight night as well as for theirt social. These included a Logo and graphics bumper, transitions, text treatments, lower thirds as well as a closer. Examples of each can be seen on this page.

Having worked with the guys at Gameday Creative recently, we had a good idea of the style and began by creating a moodboard via pureref. Looking at other animations created for the brand and similar sports animations we knew that 3D was going to be key for this. Buying an Octagon fighting ring (that had to be converted to a decagon) really helped as it gave a focal point around which both animations could be used.

We wanted to create a fun, exciting and energetic motion graphics animation that really brought their logo to life. We started creating the logo bumper and provided a rough storyboard for the short animation that centred acround the decagon. Once built we then had a good base which allowed us to create frames that could be used for the graphics bumper. Having been provided with some great reference from Julia, we decided to use the decagon as more a foregound element and have the focus directed on some giant screens that would display the message. Early iterations included visuals that took reference from actual events but we soon decided to create a more graphically intrinsic piece that was built in After Effects.

After a few changes and suggestions from the client that really helped boost the aesthetic, the piece was completed within the week and looked great! I really hope to work with the guys again soon!
